New little girlie... and yes I'm alive!

  • Oct. 2nd, 2009 at 10:11 AM

Sleepy-face!, originally uploaded by KatWoods.

I know I've been out of the blogging and LJ community for a while, but I've been up to other things and well, other communities stole all my internet time *shame on me!*

Anyway, what's new? I'm getting another little dollie. A pukifee Zoe with both sleeping face and open-eyed. None of the faceplates are coming with face-up, but I've already found an artist who I hope will do it for me (which of course means that my waiting for this girlie is not over when she gets here). I'm hoping Fairyland will ship her out mid October.

Besides that I've started to sew for my other BJD's, Hermine and Ella. Within a couple of months I'm hoping to start my etsy shop *jumps around*.

I need a light-box... *rant*

  • Jul. 30th, 2009 at 4:51 PM
I'm completely annoyed with my bad luck at the moment. Everything seemed to be perfect for picture-taking today. The Monique wigs I ordered finally arrived ( all three a little too big of course, but nothing I can't live with), my camera finally made it's way home(of course I forgot it when I was on vacation and I didn't get it back before now). So... I was happy. I rigged myself up and found the brightest place in my apartment where there is (usually) enough daylight to take decent pictures and started to pose my girls. What happened? It gets darker, the cloudbank gets thicker and yes, you guessed it, it starts to rain. I get cheated from everything that resemblence daylight and all pictures are too dark or blurry to even bother with uploading.

*Erase, erase, erase, erase.*

And of course, it's not supposed to get any better. The weather report announces an "autumn storm". I mean, really? Autumn storm? Come on- it's not even August?!?! I'm hugely depressed... I need a light-box before the dark and depressing Norwegian winter makes it pure chance to even get one shot that is good during a 1-hour photoshoot.

Ahh, thanks for listening people. It DO feels good to rant sometimes, doesn't it?

Being away...

  • Jul. 22nd, 2009 at 7:48 PM
I've been away for five days(well, actually- almost six) and I really missed my girls! Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed my little vacation on our sailboat just drifting down the Norwegian coastline (with my adorable cute dog whom I love so so much), but by the end of the trip I was feeling anxious to get home to the dolls and continue with whatever project I had planned up for them (I WAS going to take some pictures, but realized the second I stepped in the door at home that I forgot my camera on the boat... *sigh*). And then of course, I got a little worried because really, this was my one and only vacation this summer. Shouldn't I be thinking about other things than my dolls?? Gee.... I'm getting hugely addicted, it's scary! Oh, well. I'm sure (hoping at least!) that I'm far from the only one who thinks about dolls and doll projects while being away from them!

Checking in on livejournal I found that [info]moeeeh had posted this fun little personality test which I thought I should do as well, and why doing something like that if not posting it here?

My personality )

Oh! And one more thing - during my short and dollie occupied vacation away from home I managed to read two books which I really, really want to give my warmest recommendations. They are two very different books, but they both made my day while reading them and they both made me cry(not an easy thing to do for a book, that).

Book recommendations!  )

I would love to read both of these books again if I didn't have so many waiting in line already!

Ella - Iplehouse JID Basic I

  • Jul. 13th, 2009 at 4:44 PM

Here she is, still wigless, but I couldn't manage to wait until she got her wigs to post some pictures. Her body is much more proportioned than my sisters super sweet msd's (she almost look chubby next to them). I don't mind at all though, because she poses wonderfully and that is one of my big pet peeves. Non-poseable bjd's.... :( Her face-up is really well done and she got wonderful brown eyes. The iplehouse acrylics are really pretty actually! I've named her Ella - and I think it suits her well if I have to say so myself;)

Her name is Ella

Shipping notice from Iplehouse!

  • Jul. 6th, 2009 at 11:28 AM
I just checked my e-mail and in my inbox there was (very surprisingly!) a shipping notice from Iplehouse! My basic JID girl I is coming home:)
 Who's that girl?
I'm so very, very excited- not to mention overwhelmed (or iplewhelmed if you'd like)! It was so much sooner than I anticipated! I ordered her on June 18th- it's not even been three weeks. But I'm not complaining- at all!

Also, I took Frida with me up in the mountains this weekend as I really, really wanted to take some pictures of her with her new wig from Leekeworld(which arrived just before the weekend!). I think she looks sweet, although she is now ALL brown. She is going to stay in this wig, though. I like it a lot and after a quick washing just after I received it (it was filled with some greasy hair product which made it both look and feel sticky) it was super-soft. I love Veritas- she can pull off almost anything and still look beautiful!

As always, more pictures in my Flickr account if anyone is interested(click the picture!)!

Frida is awaiting her new wig

  • Jun. 27th, 2009 at 2:52 PM
Frida is getting her new wig soon! My sister just let me know that the Leekeworld order we're waiting for is ready to be shipped! Yay! I still love her in her stock wig though, but I've made my decision... she is getting a lovely brown Dollga wig. The only thing that worries me a little is the style- I'm a little scared it is going to be too short for her. But we'll see- I'm very excited for it to arrive. Almost like getting a new doll- haha.

Silly Frida

Anyone else waiting for anything? Wig? Clothes? Doll?

A new girl on her way home

  • Jun. 21st, 2009 at 11:23 PM

I've been thinking of getting another BJD (as my little Hermine feels a little lost at times with my pullips and dal) and for a very long time I was sure that I would get Souldoll Liddell. However, after accidentily browsing through Iplehouse I just fell in love with their JID dolls. Realskin Tatiana and basic I to be precise. Since the whole concept around realskin and UV light started to freak me out a little I took a rather rash decision (which I do not regret at all!!!) and bought basic I :) She will arrive hopefully during the second week of July - and I'm so so excited! She is without a doubt  one of the most prettiest dolls I've seen, and even though I'm a little worried that I'm getting another doll which have problems with fitting clothes I'll get used to that again. After all, I'm starting to get familiar with the sewing machine after Hermine came home. ;)

New Flickr-group MinoruWorld Juniors

An almost perfect dress, originally uploaded by KatWoods.

Since I (with shock and horror *lol*) discovered that there was no group on flickr only for these beautiful dolls I decided to create one myself (I'm starting to get quite the flickr- fan. I'm actually very surprised). We are not many members yet- that is when writing this we are only two- but there are several cute pictures already. So even though you don't have one of these dolls (yet!) I'm encouraging you all to join and keep your tabs on these cuties!

Did I tell you how much I love my dal?

Dal feet in the puddle, originally uploaded by KatWoods.

It's really strange how much a doll that I really didn't like when I first saw the sculpt has become one of my favs - lol. Who knew?

Anyhow, I took Lotte and Kajsa outside for some piccies the other day and I've uploaded them(or some of them at least) to my Flickr so please go and check them out!

Also, I'm slowly- very, very slowly, building up a wardrobe for my cute little bjd girl, Hermine, and when her wig comes I'll take some pictures of her and share them as well. I feel almost guilty for not showing her off more because she really is a beautiful little thing. I'm also thinking of buying her a sister (when I get my taxes and have some money to spare) and I'm liking one of the new SoulKids sculpts more and more. I'm waiting on owner pictures over at DoA to know for sure, but as it seems now Hermines sister will be a SoulKid Liddell. I'm excited!

A dress in the making & thank you, birdie!

  • Apr. 26th, 2009 at 12:10 PM
My sister surprised me some time ago with a new dress for my new little girl(she is the sweetest!). I said I could finish it up and added some buttons and a ribbon in addition to the straps to keep it up. I also tried my very best at a pair of bloomers which I believe I need more practice with before I'll show them off.... lol. Needless to say- they do not look good!

However, she looked so cute in the dress when it was only half done that I had to take some snapshoots of her. Just adorable! She insisted on taking Mee-chan with her, even though I explained to her that the sheep really is the pullip's stuffed toy.

She didn't care. She told me that
if I were allowed to continue taking pictures of her without any hair and just a half-way finished dress- she were allowed to borrow the sheep (she refused to call him Mee-chan as she thought the name was stupid- or so she says). She has so much personality, this little one.

However, her reasoning wasn't entirely off either. I can understand that she thinks it's shameless of me to take pictures of her without any hair- but she is too cute not to! (That was of course impossible to explain to her as she of course don't find herself as cute as I do).

On a sidenote, but at the same time totally related  [info]moeeeh (birdie)offered to borrow me some wigs to try on her and they arrived yesterday! Its amazing to have such sweet and helpful dolly people living in your country - I only had time to take pics of her in two of the three wigs she sent me, but they look so cute on her! (and she is thrilled to finally have some hair- even though it is not permanent). Thank you so much, birdie!

She is finally here!

  • Apr. 19th, 2009 at 8:48 PM

Finally my first BJD girl has arrived! She was much sturdier than I thought she would be, and her hands and feet are huuuge! (But I'm used to pullips and dals so everything would be huge compared to them!).

She is still nameless, but I've taken some quick shots of her(you have to excuse her for nudity- she has no clothes yet...).  Here she is, my first and only BJD, MinoruWorld Junior Minoru with a girl body and custom face-up by Tanya (which is beautiful!).

More pictures under the cut  )

On a sidenote, I've been having a toothache since Friday - and man, does toothache really hurt! I'm scared silly for going to dentists, but I'm actually looking forward to it this time because the alternative is so so much more painful.... Never thought I would say that...!

Bye, bye Mille Marie!

  • Mar. 22nd, 2009 at 12:37 PM
Since my Assa, Mille Marie, now is well on her way to Canada to meet her new family I thought it was appropriate to post my fav photoshoot of her(seeing as I haven't posted it in my LJ before) as a farewell- tribute. Although we all thought it was sad that a family member left us(she is the first doll I've ever sold!) we are all so so happy that she got the opportunity to move in with such a wonderful new doll family with a new great doll mom!

Cute as a button!

  • Mar. 14th, 2009 at 9:06 PM

I found another cutie-pie! I'm not very familiar in the world of BJD's, but from time to time I find dolls that I just find so incredibly adorable. Now I found another doll like that. She is a Petite Ai Yuriel- anyone familiar with this kind of doll? She is just so pretty, but so expensive as well... Why do I keep finding these beauties when I know I can't buy them?? hehe..

Adopting out: Emmeline

  • Mar. 14th, 2009 at 3:56 PM
I finally have some time to sell my girl (plus I'm saving up for something special...!).

Boring part, but please read... )

I'm her second owner. She has some shiny marks on her face, but they are barely noticable. She will come with her original type 3 body which is a little floppy. I have opened her head and switched out the eyemech, but she will come with her original eyemech and her eyechips have not been cut out from this one. I'll sell her with one of the wigs below for 85$ or bald for 75$.

Please give her a good home!

Since I would like to know you better...

Letting them go...

  • Feb. 25th, 2009 at 6:58 PM
I've finally decided on letting both Emmeline and Mille go (or I decided a couple of weeks ago really). It's not so sad now that I made the decision. Actually, I feel a little restless to get the process over and done with. However, I'm going to have to wait with the whole selling part until my professional life get a little more sorted out. I'm in the process of getting a new job(or rather wanting to get a new job, it's really not easy these days) so everything is a little bit hectic in the week-days and the weekends I've either been up in the mountains or busy with writing applications. I always new that the "headhunting and selection"- business would be a risky move as the industry follows the ups and downs in the market with a flawless precision. So, I was expecting the cuts when they were announced. And with my 7 months in the world of employment I'm a preferred employer to loose. Sad, but true.
But I'm positive! )

For this not to be just sad(even though I'm not sad- but positive)- here's a picture of my two "soon-to-be-sold" girls!

I'm having a small sale! Check it out! Includes my Lan Ake Emmeline as well- such a pretty girl, please give her a loving home! I am a little sad that she's leaving because I still think she is a gorgeous girl, but I'm not giving her ANY attention. Poor girl.

From one doll to another

"Who are you?", she asked. "I thought I was the only one?". She looked to the newcomer with big curious eyes. "I'm Frida!", she answered. "...and I think there are a lot of us". She winked. The first one popped open her eyes. "Really?"
